In The Spotlight: Roxanne Garcia

In 2019, we had the honor of being joined by Roxanne “Roxy” Garcia. With a wealth of experience, immeasurable talent, and an all-around, good-natured optimism, Roxy quickly became a vital and celebrated member of our team. Also worth noting: The lady has some serious style. We think you’ll love our resident chicken nugget connoisseur as much as we do, so we asked her a few questions to help you get to know her better. 

What do you do at DEFINITION 6? 

I started my career in TV production. About seven years ago I transitioned to broadcast PR, where I really felt I found my calling. As a Media Relations Manager, I help brands craft messages that communicate their unique identities and stories and distribute those messages via multiple channels across the nation. I am the conduit between brand and audience. 

What do you love most about your work?  

Collaboration. There’s a genuine spirit of cooperation and shared goals not only within the company but with our clients and partners as well. It truly is a collaborative environment. 

What has been your favorite project at DEFINITION 6?  

I enjoy working with our beauty, fashion, and wellness clients. Aside from working with some amazing brands, the creativity involved in highlighting ever-evolving trends and new products makes work fun!   

But I have to say, my favorite project here at DEFINITION 6 was health-focused. I was given the opportunity to work on a campaign urging Americans not to delay seeing their healthcare providers during the pandemic. By pushing off visits to the doctor, the risk of undiagnosed diseases and delays in treatment that can have serious implications on patient outcomes increased tremendously. This was new territory for a lot of us, and being part of a project that focused on bringing awareness to such a serious issue felt uniquely satisfying. 

How do you occupy your spare time?  

Traveling. I’m forever planning my next adventure. It is rejuvenating, fun, reignites my creativity, and helps me expand my worldview and my mind. I also enjoy photography. I’m by no means a pro, but in my spare time I love to grab my camera, go on a solo photo walk, and find inspiration in ordinary places. 

What song gets you amped up to kick butt on the treadmill (or any exercise)?  

“Vex Oh” by Kaytranada or “Little Bit More” by Jidenna 

What is the best campaign you’ve ever seen? 

The Old Spice Mom Song commercials. They crack me up. Every. Single. Time. 

What is your favorite brand/newsletter you follow?  

The very aptly named theSkimm—it’s informative and concise, all while maintaining a sense of humor. 

What is something you recently learned that surprised you? 

I always assumed loofahs came from the ocean, like sponges. But in fact, loofah is a vegetable that grows on a vine and resembles a cucumber.
